2013 Aldeburgh Festival in numbers: a record-breaking year

  • Record number of tickets sold: over 27,000.
    Previous highest was 21,500
  • Record number of bookers: 3,937.
    Previous highest was 2,488.
  • Record number of new bookers: 1,347.
    Previous highest was 575.
  • 5,100 people attended performances of Grimes on the Beach
  • 1,500 Aldeburgh residents attended a free dress rehearsal of Grimes on the Beach
  • £2,000 was raised at Grimes on the Beach for Aldeburgh charities:
    the Royal National Lifeboat Association, Fishing Boat Restoration Fund and Jubilee Hall

  • Audiences came from more than 20 countries,
    including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland and the USA
  • A record 117 journalists attended the Festival
    - 74 representing UK publications and 43 international (representing 16 countries)
